These figures are made from pencil shavings. The curly woodstrands that drop down into the clear plastic electric pencil sharpener drawer. These ribbons allow the pencils to work, uncovering their black lead. The “coats and shawls” are reassembled into figures. I have displayed them as single figures and as a town. Fritz Scholder bought one from Mainsite Gallery in Norman, Oklahoma while a guest artist at O.U. It was his only purchase there.
